Surpringly, very few or no one windsurfs there. However the conditions seem to be good. Winds blow up a minimum of two times a week. Best times are summer times until december, since it gets realy cold after that.
There is a good surfing spot close by at beach 98. the waves are shore break and does not break far. on the other side of the bay beach 140th a good freestyle flat water spot. you can find some windsurfers there from time to time Access to Spot From JFK Airport, take the A train to Beach Channel, then the S shuttle train. Going surfing stop at beach 98. going windsurfing go all the way to beach 166 and sail anywhere on the beach Additional information Watch out from the currents, no windsurf rental so bring your own equipment. the beach is good also for kitesurfing with a lot of space for launching. |
